Akuaba

The “Akuabas” form a collection of sculptures  called gods and idols. They are a series of small ritual statuettes developped on the variation and repetition of the same motive. Inspired by the technical plan of a previous work, they play on resemblances with Ghanaian Akuaba fertility dolls.

Akuaba – is the name of wooden ritual fertility dolls from Ghana and nearby areas. (see Ashanti people)
